He who holds the reins, as they say,.. well I don't know how to complete that in this instance, aside from maybe, is he who sinks the ship. Or drives the horse drawn carriage off the cliff I guess.
Which brings me to the main point of this post. Steemit Inc is NOT Steem, but they create a huge conflict of interest by controlling the development of the steem blockchain.
A red flag went off when I re-read this post:

The trigger was the following quote,

It might be hard to notice at first glance, especially with so much information being thrown at us constantly... But they state, their focus, "100% on improving STEEMIT.COM", NOT Steem... Yea, they put a comma... But read the words on the page. Their interest is to save their Titanic...
Now, AFAIK, they have full control over the GitHub repos that are used by witnesses to run the steem blockchain, and I know parts of this may still be fear of being written off the chain and bla bla bla, NO! That will compromise the entirety of the chain, noone wants that. But we also don't want our platform being neglected for the sake of running better ads, or greed launching SMTs, communities, etc... No!!
Give up control of the blockchain source, let the trusted witnesses control the repos.
Steem-engine is running their own sidechain, which requires additional hardware, and could end up being an exit scam.. why? Because they run their own servers and the SMTs aren't really REAL SMTs? Yup!! 100%...
At any point in time the devs of steem-engine could all die in a fire or whatever else could happen to them, and the engine dies with them.
This is unacceptable.
All the bickering about who has the best ego, or fattest wallets, or control of the code, and witnesses, and more... No, it all needs to end.
Is this post about steem? Or the politics of the world at the moment? How is humans are slowly overtime being more connected then ever and not knowing meaningful bonds between humans is more than just meeting family or friends during holidays and events.. I don't know, but somethings wrong with the world today, I don't know what it is.. but I know as fucked up as the cold war was in my earliest years, it has nothing on how we are treating each other today, you should all be ashamed of yourselves. Smile, love one another as though your future depends on one another, because it does. The end.
